Man Charged With DUI Following Naperville Accident

As discussed on the “DuPage County Vehicle Accidents” page, there are many potential causes of vehicle accidents.

Over the last few years, despite increased awareness of driving after drinking and increased enforcement efforts, drunk driving persists.  It remains a significant, if not substantial, traffic safety problem.  Not only are there numerous drunk driving accidents, drunk driving is often a root cause of fatal collisions, including “wrong-way driver” accidents.

The November 25, 2015 Naperville Sun article titled “Police charge Naperville man with DUI after SUV hits tree” discusses a vehicle accident in Naperville involving a man who crashed a SUV into a tree.  Following the November 20 accident, the man was charged with numerous charges, including DUI.

Fatal “Head-On” Vehicle Collision In Oak Brook

There was a fatal “head-on” vehicle collision this morning (November 12, 2015) in Oak Brook.

First responders went to the accident scene, which was at 31st Street, west of Regent Drive, just before 9:45 a.m.

According to Oak Brook Police, preliminary information indicates that a westbound car crossed the median and struck another vehicle in a frontal impact.

The driver of the car that crossed the median, currently identified only as a woman, was pronounced dead at the accident scene.  The other driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment of accident injuries.

This DuPage County accident remains under investigation.

Fatal Car-Bicycle Collision In Oak Brook

There was a fatal bicycle accident Sunday night (November 8, 2015) in Oak Brook.

According to the Oak Brook Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Route 83 and 16th Street just before 6:00 p.m.

An excerpt from the November 9, 2015 Chicago Sun-Times article titled “Bicyclist killed in crash near OakBrook Center“:

Police said the cyclist disobeyed a red light and was struck by a vehicle, according to initial driver and witness statements.

The man riding the bicycle was identified as Pedro Jimenez, 43, of Lombard.  According to the DuPage County Coroner’s Office, he was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Jimenez was identified only as a man in his 50s from Westmont.

This fatal bicycle accident remains under investigation.

Man Fatally Struck By A Car On 87th Street In Darien

A man was fatally struck by a car Saturday evening (November 7, 2015) in Darien.  This fatal DuPage County pedestrian accident happened on 87th Street.

The man who was fatally struck by a car was identified as Jose Flores, 39.

An excerpt regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash, from the November 8, 2015 abc7chicago.com article (with video) titled “Man, 39, fatally struck by car in Darien“:

Witnesses say Flores was trying to help stop traffic while a truck pulling a trailer full of horses for the birthday party backed out of the home’s driveway.

Police say the driver of a white Toyota Camry struck Flores, sending him flying. Damage to the driver’s side front of the car shows where the vehicle hit Flores.

The driver of the car was identified as a 85-year-old woman.
