Student Falls Off Of SUV In Aurora Parking Lot And Later Dies

Occasionally in the Chicago area there are fatal accidents involving people falling off of cars.  An accident happened Friday (May 13, 2016) in which a student at the Marmion Academy in Aurora fell off of a moving SUV and later died from his accident injuries.

According to Aurora Police, the accident happened in the school’s parking lot at approximately 3:45 p.m.  According to a preliminary investigation, a student was standing on the running board of an Acura MDX and holding onto the vehicle’s exterior while another student drove the MDX at approximately 10 m.p.h.  At some point the driver made a left turn and the student standing on the running board lost his grip, falling backward off of the SUV.  The student who fell was identified as Stephen J. Woodcock, 17, of St. Charles.

Woodcock hit the pavement and received head and likely other injuries, police said. He was treated at the scene by Aurora Fire Department paramedics and then flown to the hospital.

Woodcock died from his accident injuries on Monday, May 16, 2016.

The investigation of the accident is ongoing and is being performed by the Aurora Police Traffic Division.
