Bartlett Fatal “Head-On Collision” At Route 59 And Bartlett Road

There was a fatal “head-on collision” Friday afternoon (April 7, 2017) at Route 59 and Bartlett Road in Bartlett. ┬áThe collision involved a pickup truck colliding with a box truck.

According to Bartlett Police, the collision was reported to police between 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

An excerpt regarding the cause of the crash, as seen in the Daily Herald article of April 7, 2017 (“Teenager dies after Bartlett crash“) quoting Bartlett Police Cmdr. Michael McGuigan:

The pickup truck had been traveling south on Route 59 near West Bartlett Road before it apparently crossed the centerline and struck the northbound box truck head-on, McGuigan said.

A video of the accident scene shows severe front-end damage to the pickup truck.

Of the three occupants of the pickup truck, a teenage passenger sitting in the back seat died after being taken to St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates.

The driver and front-seat passenger in the pickup truck both were seriously injured.  The driver was flown via helicopter to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of accident injuries, and the front-seat passenger was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital (Elgin) for medical treatment.

The driver of the box truck was taken to St. Alexius Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The traffic crash investigation continues.
