Fatal Naperville Single-Car Crash Remains Under Investigation

There was a fatal single-car crash in Naperville on January 19, 2017.  The accident happened near Ogden Avenue and Route 59.

An excerpt from the Naperville Patch article of January 19, 2017, titled “Man Dies After Car Hits Traffic Signal in Naperville“:

Police said the man was driving a 2015 Kia Optima east on Ogden at around 12:15 p.m. when the vehicle cut across the center median and entered the westbound lanes just east of Route 59. The Kia then continued east in the westbound lanes until it hit a traffic signal pole at the entrance of Fox River Commons Shopping Center, 686 Route 59.

The driver, identified as a 64-year-old man from Bolingbrook later identified as Nathaniel Strong, was extricated from the car, as he was pinned within the vehicle.  He was then taken to Edward Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries, where he later died.

Traffic accident reconstruction and investigation is being handled by the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
