There was a fatal pedestrian accident in Naperville last night (November 9, 2014.) The accident involved a car striking a pedestrian who was crossing the street while walking a dog.
According to the Naperville Police Department November 10 press release (“Naperville Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Traffic Crash“) Naperville Police and Fire Department personnel responded to the accident scene at 8:15 p.m.
This fatal pedestrian pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of Rickert Road and Book Road. The pedestrian was struck as she was walking across the intersection northbound on Book Road, and was struck by a car traveling eastbound on Rickert Road.
The pedestrian, identified as Emily S. Driscoll, 22, of Naperville, was taken to Edward Hospital for treatment of her accident injuries. She later died.
Her dog also was struck and killed as a result of the collision.
The driver of the car was identified as Kenneth E. Holmberg, 74, of Plainfield.
This fatal pedestrian accident remains under investigation by the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
