Hanover Park Fatal “Hit & Run” Motorcycle Accident

There was a fatal motorcycle accident Monday night (April 24, 2017) in Hanover Park.  The motorcycle accident appears to be a “hit & run” accident in which another driver left the accident scene.

An excerpt from the abc7chicago.com article (with video) titled “Hanover Park police investigate possible hit-and-run motorcycle crash“:

Witnesses police have already spoken to said a driver in a red Mercury hit a person on a motorcycle around 8:20 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Army Trail and County Farm roads and sped off.

The motorcyclist was identified as Christina Jankowski, 30.  She was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

According to the preliminary autopsy results, she died of massive head trauma.

The DuPage Crash Accident Reconstruction Task Force is assisting Hanover Park police with the investigation.

It was later disclosed that on Tuesday the driver turned himself in.  An excerpt from the Chicago Tribune article of April 26, 2017, titled “83-year-old charged in fatal hit-and-run in Hanover Park“:

Ramon Barajas, 83, has been charged with leaving an accident involving death and failure to yield in the death of Christina Jankowski, 30, of Elgin. His bail was set at $50,000 Wednesday in DuPage County court.

Authorities said Barajas failed to yield around 8:20 p.m. at Army Trail and County Farm roads, causing the collision with Jankowski.
