Jeep Strikes Pedestrian In Naperville Following Loss Of Control

There was a pedestrian accident Tuesday morning (November 1, 2016) in Naperville.  A woman was hurt during the accident, and her injuries are described as being potentially life-threatening in nature.

According to the City of Naperville, in a November 1, 2016 article titled “Naperville Police Department seek information regarding early morning crash” the Naperville Police and Fire Departments responded to the crash at 6:58 a.m.  The accident scene was in the area of Warrenville Road and Freedom Drive, which is near I-88.

An excerpt from the City of Naperville article mentioned above:

Initial investigation has revealed that the pedestrian was walking westbound on the parkway of Warrenville Road, when a vehicle lost control, left the roadway, and struck her.

The pedestrian is a 37-year-old female from Joliet (later identified as Melanie J. Setterbo) and the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee that hit her has been identified as a 17-year-old female.  The Jeep had been driving eastbound on Warrenville Road

There is no indication yet as to why the driver of the Jeep lost control of the vehicle.

This pedestrian accident continues to be under investigation by the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
