Traffic Crash At 75th Street And Naper Boulevard Intersection

There has been a vehicle crash Tuesday morning (January 24, 2017) at the intersection of 75th Street and Naper Boulevard in Naperville.  Details on the traffic crash are said to be forthcoming.

This intersection has recently been discussed as one that has planned improvements for traffic safety.  The improvements are meant to improve the safety of the intersection, which has a high volume of traffic and many crashes.

The intersection and its planned improvements are discussed in the January 12, 2017 Naperville Sun article titled “New 75th Street/Naper Blvd. intersection to have second left-hand turn lane, turn arrow.”

Two excerpts from that article:

“There are a fair number of crashes there, and this will help reduce that number,” said Andy Hynes, deputy city engineer for Naperville. “75th Street and Naper Boulevard is pretty regularly in the top crash locations.”

also:

“75th Street is a high-volume, high-speed roadway,” Hynes said. “Drivers have to judge the speed and distance and so on when making a left turn. That leads to some people making mistakes.”

Traffic statistics from the City of Naperville indicate that 42,000 vehicles a day use 75th Street and Naper Boulevard has traffic of 29,000 vehicles a day.

The traffic safety improvements and timeline are discussed in the article.

Details regarding today’s Naperville crash can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the January 24, 2017 Naperville Sun article titled “Lanes closed after serious crash in Naperville” as well as the January 24 Naperville Patch article titled “Crash Blocking Naper Boulevard in Naperville.”
