Traffic Safety Initiative Results Reported By St. Charles Police

The St. Charles Police Department’s Thanksgiving holiday period traffic safety enforcement statistics have been released. ┬áThis enforcement effort, and others like it, typically are aimed at stopping drivers who are driving while intoxicated (DUI) or impaired on drugs, or are otherwise operating a vehicle in an unsafe or illegal manner.

The results are summarized in the December 8, 2016 Batavia Patch article titled “St. Charles PD Releases Arrest Numbers from Holiday Enforcement Effort.”

An excerpt from the article highlighting the results from the 14-day enforcement period, which was part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” traffic safety campaigns, which is funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT):

During this enforcement period, which was held Nov. 14 through Nov. 28, St. Charles officers assigned to the extra patrols made four DUI arrests, one drug arrest; one Driving While License Suspended arrest and issued nine citations for speeding, six citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and six citations for other offenses. Detail officers also issued 21 written warning tickets for various equipment and other violations, according to a news release.
