Fatal Pedestrian Accident On Route 59 In Warrenville

There was a fatal pedestrian accident Tuesday evening (February 15, 2017) in Warrenville.

According to Warrenville Police, the fatal collision occurred at approximately 6:23 p.m., as a person – described at this time only as an adult – was struck by a northbound vehicle on Illinois Route 59 near the Meadow Lane intersection.

Authorities say the pedestrian was crossing the road in the area of a crosswalk and against a red light when the accident happened. The vehicle that struck the pedestrian was proceeding through the intersection on a green light, police said.

The person was taken to a hospital for treatment of accident injuries, and later died.

The accident investigation is being conducted by the Warrenville Police Department and the DuPage County Sheriff’s Police. ¬†At this point no tickets or traffic citations have been issued.
